Why Priscilla?
Priscilla, is the nickname for Prisca, as mentioned by Paul in a letter to the Romans: “Greet Prisca and Aquila, my co-workers in Christ Jesus, who risked their necks for my life, to whom not only I am grateful but also all the churches of the Gentiles; greet also the church at their house.”
You see, in the early church Jesus’s followers met in people’s homes like Priscilla’s. This, along with many other stories we have heard about this strong supporter of the Church, is the name adopted for this group affiliated with the Council of Catholic Women. The Priscilla Circle seeks to foster and nurture the women in our church through fellowship, spiritual growth, and service to others. We offer an additional meeting time for those who cannot meet Friday mornings with CCW.
Like Priscilla, we meet in the home. The host varies amongst the group and the meetings are in the evenings the third week of the month. Our gatherings are focused on allowing the women to have spiritual time on a given subject guided by a guest speaker. We know that we have many spouses that are deployed or not available on the meeting night every time, so children are welcome. Time for reflection and dialog at the meeting is primary, thus business is addressed via the closed group on Facebook and Instagram. Other activities that we have hosted in the past and are planning for the whole parish family for Fall 2019/Spring 2020 include the Harvest Dance, ice cream socials, meals for new moms, Holy Smokes BBQ competition fundraiser, and a reflection group for women.
Priscilla Circle membership is free. For more information and latest happenings, go to COR Priscilla Circle Community on Facebook and Instagram or contact leader:
